Colorado International School offers immersion language programs for students in PreK through eighth grades, and enrichment program after school for students in CoIS, other private or public schools, or home schooled children desiring second or third language development. These enrichment programs, with multiple language offerings, also offer native speaking teachers and exciting activities that accompany the intensive language instruction.
The enrichment programs for students ages 3 through 16, offer French, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, German, Arabic, Farsi, Italian and others as requested by parents.
Summer camps, held locally, nationally and internationally, are also an important part of CoIS programs for students ages 3 through 18.
Colorado International Preschool and Kindergarten, ages 3-5 years, provides a caring, nurturing and safe language-immersion learning environment for children’s personal growth and development and future success in an international educational setting. The school offers a fully-licensed program.
Colorado International School is an elementary and middle school for grades 1-8, offering dual language immersion education for all in various language streams. Presently, those language streams are Spanish, Mandarin, and French. Others will be added as requested by parents.
The enrichment programs, for students ages 3-18, offered after school hours and during summer camps, are part of the Academy division. Students not only learn the language with an immersion approach, but are introduced to many cultural aspects such as brush-stroke painting and gardening techniques in China , for example, or different types of martial arts typical of China , Japan or Brazil . Computer programs in language acquisition provide individually interactive forms of practice in the skills of the language, and movies attractive to the ages of the students are from countries where the native language is being supported by intriguing plots that also provide cultural awareness. Dance and music are offered which are also typical of the native countries, and students put on presentations for each other to practice and share their learning experiences. Cooking classes, art projects and a variety of culturally based experiences are provided that are fun, creative and supportive of language acquisition.
Summer camps offer field trips outside of Denver, as well as international camps in countries where CoIS has sister-school relationships.
