Colorado International School (CoIS) offers immersion language programs and after school Enrichment Programs from Preschool through Eighth grades in German, French, Mandarin, Spanish.
CoIS offers after school Enrichment Programs for children desiring to learn or develope language in German, French, Mandarin, Spanish and others requested by parents. These after school Enrichment Programs are available to current CoIS students and students that attend other public, private or home-schooled education. Additionally, these multiple language programs are taught by native speaking teachers and include exciting activities that accompany the intensive language instruction.
Elementary School Programs (First – Fifth Grades)
At the elementary level, CoIS students spend a large percentage of their time immersed in the second language of their choice- French, German, Mandarin or Spanish. Students maintain grade level competency in both English and their immersion language by collaborating closely with teachers and peers. Small class sizes encourage participation from all students, resulting in in-depth discussions and high levels of understanding. Elementary students gain a strong understanding of the humanities, as they are constantly introduced to new global ideas through monthly International Tea-Parties, and weekly cultural physical education classes. By following the International Baccalaureate* tradition, our elementary teachers creatively and thoughtfully educate future world leaders. Middle School (Sixth – Eighth Grades)
CoIS is happy to continue our world class education through the middle school years. As an upper-elementary and middle school student, mastery of a second language is common. As a middle schooler, you study a third language formally while maintaining your subject-matter competency in all subjects in your original program language and in English. As a small, private school, CoIS offers American P.E., cultural P.E., and choir. For students interested in participating in competitive sports, our partnerships with neighboring schools makes this option possible. Our individualized teaching methods, and small class sizes allow you learn at your own pace. You can choose the topics you’re interested in, and focus your interrogations and assignments on things you really want to learn.
What else? You get to travel to other countries with your friends! (In fall 2011 we’re headed to China, and in the spring, we’re going to Greece! ) You gain a world awareness. You mentor students older and younger than you are. You prepare for high school and college. You work within the community, providing a service of your choice. You participate in the technological side of the school, helping with the school blog and yearbook. You make connections between subjects you’ve learned in many langauges.
The only international immersion middle school in French, German, Mandarin and Spanish.
CoIS truly provides a unique middle school experience.
