Lindsay Norwood
My name is Lindsay Norwood, and I am the English teacher at CoIS. That is not the only hat I wear here, however, so you are likely to see me teaching pre-k art, , working on our computers, or updating our website as well. This is my second year teaching at CoIS, and I am enjoying working with our gifted students here at Colorado International School . Our close-knit community is always so warm and welcoming that it makes it easy to come to school each morning.
I have my Master’s degree in English, with an emphasis in teaching English as a second language. My degree is very beneficial working here at CoIS, where all of my students are immersed in other languages most of the time. I always work to make sure that the content my students receive in their immersion language is comprehensible, both in English and in the immersion language.
As English teacher, I work hard to make sure that my students are maintaining a level at or above grade level (judged by our Colorado Academic Standards) at all times. I do this by placing a strong emphasis on students’ own strengths and weaknesses. I focus on phonetics, question asking, and fundamentals of English. I teach new linguistic concepts and skills by emphasizing them through interesting topics, like current events, cross cultural examinations, and web-quests.
I am happy to answer any of my student’s questions, as I emphasize that there is no such thing as a bad question, but that some questions, by nature, will yield more precise and accurate results than others.

Ms. Stephanie Urban
Miss Stephanie is our history, English, science and math (4th grade) teacher for the Upper Elementary School. Ms. Stephanie is a graduate of Smith College in geology. She has two kids, a son, Adrian (22 and a recent Brown University grad) and a daughter, Zoe (18 and a first year student at Macalester College in St. Paul MN. She is also mom to the sweetest canine, Maizie May.
