Carmen Stagg

Hello! I come to Colorado International School after ten years of working in both formal and informal education. I hold a Master of Arts in Experiential Education from Prescott College with a specific focus on integrated curriculum design. I also have two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University, where I studied the impact of politics, religion and culture on international systems. During and after my undergraduate studies I traveled extensively, to Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, Thailand, and all over the United States.

My experience in the field of education ranges from being a preschool teacher to working with college students. Most recently I have had the fortune of working with youth in and out of the classroom in beautiful Colorado. I love igniting a love for learning in youth, and have spent the past four years doing this through outdoor education as the Youth Education Program Manager for the Colorado Mountain Club. In this position I created, managed and taught elementary age programming that combined science, recreation, math, geography and history. I am passionate about integrated curriculum and the idea that ‘anything is the gateway to everything.’ I believe student inquiry creates connections that build wonder, intrigue, compassion, and the desire to know more. My favorite subject to teach is science and my favorite thing to do is be outside. I also have a six year old son who helps me on my learning and teaching journey every day.
